Lead in our drinking water.

If you are like me when you wake up you like to catch up on the news. Makes me feel like I may just be informed enough to feel safe. One report that stood out this morning 26/11/18 was a report that our drinking water may be contaminated with LEAD. I immediately thought that’s not right. It is off my opinion that the bottom feeders are trying to get attention with scare tactics. So let’s start at the source. How does water get lead in it? Just briefly- and I’m happy to be corrected. The characteristic of water is whatever surface it flows over or becomes in contact with- it take a part of it, with itself. Our water mains throughout the city are constructed out of a number of different materials.

DO NOT BE ALARMED! Ranging from concert to asbestos. Some tap ware and fittings throughout your home may contain lead in them. However most good quality tap-ware that is to Australian standards and Water marked are ok. It is of my opinion as a plumber and a consumer of our water here in Perth that running your tap for 30 sec is just a waste of water 2-3 sec is sufficient anything more is just a waste.
